Koloa Kaua'i Reserve Single Barrel is a four-year-old Hawaiian rum drawn from one cask, distilled in a copper pot still from Hawaiian sugar cane on Kauai. Single barrel means no blending back to a house profile, so each release carries its own cask's fingerprint. Expect toffee and dried tropical fruit on the nose, a palate of caramel, vanilla, toasted oak and warm brown spice, and a finish that runs longer and drier than the unaged bottlings. The pot still weight holds its own under the oak rather than getting buried by it. Drink it neat or over one large cube, and keep it out of anything sweet.
