About this bottle
La Higuera Sotol Texanum is made from Dasylirion texanum, the desert species that grows along the northern edge of the plant's range, harvested wild and distilled on its own rather than blended. Sotol is often mistaken for mezcal, but the plant is not an agave and the spirit shows it: less roasted sugar, more green herbs and stone. The nose is dry grass, mint and a whiff of smoke; the palate leans peppery and vegetal with citrus pith and a saline mineral streak; and the finish is long, dry and clean. Drink it neat at room temperature, slowly, from a copita or a small tumbler.
