Lagrimas del Valle Plata El Chiqueno is an unaged tequila named for the ranch that grew its agave, which is how this whole range is organised. Bottling each site on its own means the soil, the elevation and the harvest all stay visible instead of being averaged out, and El Chiqueno leans toward the brighter, greener end of that spectrum. Fresh cooked agave, lime zest and green herbs on the nose lead into a vegetal palate with white pepper, grapefruit and a chalky mineral note, then a clean, dry, peppery finish. Drink it neat at room temperature, or shake it into a margarita with plenty of fresh lime.
