About this bottle
Lejay is the house that has been making creme de cassis in Dijon since 1841, and this is the blackcurrant liqueur that the whole category is measured against. Cassis is made by steeping the berries rather than distilling them, which is why it keeps such a deep colour and such direct fruit flavour. The nose is ripe blackcurrant and dark berry jam, the palate is rich and sweet with a tart edge that stops it going flat, and the finish is long and cleanly fruity. Its natural home is a kir, a splash under dry white wine, or a kir royale with sparkling wine, but it also lifts a whiskey sour.
