Louis Latour Beaune Les Vignes Franches 2017 is a Pinot Noir from a premier cru site on the southern edge of Beaune, bottled by Maison Louis Latour. 2017 was a generous, classically proportioned vintage in the Côte de Beaune, and this wine leans elegant rather than powerful. Expect a nose of red cherry, cranberry and dried rose; a medium-bodied palate with silky tannin, bright acidity and a savoury earthiness sitting under the fruit; and a finish that stays fresh rather than heavy. It is drinking well now with a short decant. Serve it just below room temperature alongside coq au vin, roast pork or a plate of soft cheese.
