Marcado 28 Tequila Blanco is an unaged tequila from Jalisco, bottled straight off the still rather than rested in wood. That makes it the most transparent expression a brand can put out, with cooked agave, the character of the water and the shape of the cut all sitting in the glass with nothing on top of them. The nose is agave-forward with citrus peel and a little green pepper, the palate is clean and lightly sweet before turning herbal and peppery through the middle, and the finish is crisp and dry. Chill it lightly and sip it neat, or build a margarita, the drink blanco was written for.
