That second toasted barrel is where the extra layer comes from: toasting caramelises the wood sugars without the heavy char, pushing the whiskey toward baked and roasted flavours rather than smoke. Expect toasted marshmallow, dark caramel and vanilla on the nose, a thick palate of brown sugar, cocoa and cinnamon, and a long warm finish of dry oak. Add a few drops of water and let it open, or pour it over one large cube.
