Chapter 7's Monologue series bottles single-cask Scotch whisky from named distilleries, and this release is a 33-year-old single grain whisky from the now-silent Cambus distillery, finished in an Octave cask, a small, roughly 50-liter barrel that concentrates wood influence over a shorter finishing period. As a single grain whisky, it is made primarily from corn or wheat rather than 100% malted barley, giving it a lighter, sweeter base than a single malt. Expect a light gold color, with vanilla, toffee, and light oak spice from the Octave finish on the nose, and a smooth, surprisingly delicate palate for its age, with a long, sweet, gently spiced finish. A rare bottling for grain whisky collectors, given Cambus itself no longer distills.
