Negro Mate Cupreata 750 ml

Negro Mate Cupreata is a mezcal made from agave cupreata, a wild-harvested plant that grows on steep hillsides in western Mexico and takes well over a decade to mature before it can be roasted. Cupreata is prized for its balance of fruit and minerality, and it tends to produce a mezcal that leans less smoky than espadin. The nose brings cooked agave, green apple and wet stone; the palate is citrus, roasted pineapple and soft wood smoke; the finish is long, mineral and gently peppery. Drink it neat at room temperature in a copita, with an orange slice alongside if you like, and take your time with it.
