About this bottle
Murai Family Nigori Genshu is an unfiltered, undiluted sake from Japan, blended from Yamadanishiki and Gohyakumangoku rice. Genshu means the sake goes into the bottle at its natural fermentation strength, without the water dilution most sake receives before release, so it carries more body and a higher ABV than a standard nigori. The rice solids left in during the coarse filtering give it a cloudy, milky appearance and a thick, almost creamy texture. On the palate it's fruity and lightly sweet up front, with a rounded, mellow finish rather than a sharp one. It suits drinkers who find filtered sake too thin and want something closer to the brewery tank.
How to drink Murai Family Nigori Genshu
Serve it chilled — cold temperatures keep the sweetness in check and let the rice character come through without turning cloying. Give the bottle a gentle shake or roll before pouring since the sediment settles, and pour it into a small glass rather than a large one so it doesn't warm too fast.

Questions about this bottle
What temperature should Nigori Genshu sake be served at?
Chilled is best — cold temperatures keep the natural sweetness in balance and let the rice character come through without the sake tasting syrupy. It can also be enjoyed at room temperature if you want more of the fermentation aromatics to open up.
What does "genshu" mean on a sake label?
Genshu means the sake was bottled at its natural strength straight from the press, without the water dilution most sake goes through before release. That's why genshu styles tend to have more body and a higher ABV than a standard nigori or junmai.
