About this bottle

Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky is a single grain Japanese whisky distilled in vintage Coffey stills — continuous column stills — at Nikka's Miyagikyo Distillery. It's made primarily from corn, a style Nikka has run since the 1960s using stills bought secondhand from a closing Scottish distillery. Bottled at 45% ABV without an age statement, it carries a sweet, creamy character unusual for grain whisky, with vanilla, coconut, and ripe fruit on the nose, a smooth, rounded palate, and a long, mellow finish. It's a rare showcase for grain whisky as a standalone pour rather than blending filler, and a distinctive entry point into Nikka's range.

How to drink Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky

It's built for a highball — soda water lets the coconut and vanilla shine without overwhelming the whisky's natural sweetness. Neat works too if you want to taste what grain whisky can do on its own.

Questions about this bottle

What's the best way to serve Nikka Coffey Grain?

Serve it neat, on the rocks, or in a Highball — its lighter grain character makes it especially good built long over ice with soda water.

What still is Coffey Grain distilled on?

A continuous Coffey still, the type it's named after, using a primarily corn-based mash — giving it a sweeter, more vanilla-forward profile than a pot-distilled malt.

Who is Nikka named after?

Nikka was founded by Masataka Taketsuru, considered the father of Japanese whisky, who studied whisky-making in Scotland.
