This is a seven-year Nulu straight bourbon bottled from a single cask, barrel B956, selected under the Berry Butter Pancake pick name, which is the sort of nickname a tasting group hands a barrel that tastes unmistakably of breakfast. Single barrel bottlings are one-offs by definition, with nothing blended in to smooth the profile, so this cask stands or falls entirely on its own. The nose is maple syrup, red berry and vanilla; the palate brings brown sugar, buttered pastry, cooked fruit and seven years of oak tannin; the finish is sweet up front and drying at the end. Neat, in a Glencairn, no ice.
