Old Dominick Huling Station Straight Bourbon is a Memphis-made, high-rye bourbon bottled at 100 proof and aged four years in charred new oak. Old Dominick Distillery revived the old D. Canale & Co. name on the Mississippi riverfront, and Huling Station is its flagship, an homage to the whiskeys sold in 1866 Memphis. The high-rye recipe pushes stone fruit, dark cherry, and creamy vanilla on the nose, then turns to cinnamon and rich caramel on the palate before a dry finish of pipe tobacco and dark chocolate. At 100 proof it holds its shape over ice and stands tall in a Manhattan, yet has enough going on to reward a slow neat pour.
