Brown-Forman is one of the few producers that still makes and chars its own barrels, and the barrel-strength single barrels tend to come from the warmest parts of the warehouse, where the wood works hardest and fastest. Expect a nose of dark cherry, brown sugar and char, a thick and oily palate of caramel, cocoa and baking spice with real heat behind it, and a long finish of oak and dried fruit. Add water a few drops at a time until it opens, then leave it alone.
