Old Louisville Whiskey Co The Kentucky Series is an eight-year Kentucky straight bourbon, an age statement that puts it well past the point where most bourbon quietly stops printing a number on the label. Eight summers in a Kentucky rickhouse is enough for the wood to take charge without drying the whiskey out, and it shows in the colour before you taste anything at all. The nose is caramel, dark cherry and old leather; the palate is full, with brown sugar, cinnamon and toasted oak over a soft corn sweetness; the finish is long and gently drying. Neat is where it shines, though it makes a serious old fashioned.
