Olmeca Altos Añejo is a 100% agave tequila made in the highlands (Los Altos) of Jalisco, a collaboration involving tequila expert Jesus Hernandez, and aged in oak barrels for the añejo designation. The highland agave typically brings a sweeter, more floral base than lowland tequila before barrel aging adds oak and caramel. Expect cooked agave, vanilla and light oak on the nose, a smooth palate with caramel and baking spice, and a warm, moderately long finish. It's built as an accessible, well-made highland añejo rather than a rare collector's bottle.
