Owneys Rum 1L

Owney's is a white rum made in Brooklyn at The Noble Experiment NYC, named for Owney Madden, the Prohibition-era operator who ran the Cotton Club. It is distilled from molasses and bottled unaged, which puts the whole weight of the pour on the distillate rather than on wood. The nose is clean and lightly sweet, with sugarcane and a touch of banana; the palate is soft and round, showing vanilla, coconut and a faint grassy note; the finish is short and dry rather than syrupy. That restraint is what makes it a good mixing rum. Shake it into a daiquiri, stir a mojito, or pour it long with soda and lime.
