Paladar Reposado Tempranillo 750 ml

Paladar rests this reposado in casks that previously held Tempranillo, the backbone grape of Rioja, which sends the tequila toward red fruit rather than vanilla. Wine wood is more restrained than an ex-bourbon barrel, so the agave keeps the lead and the cask reads as seasoning instead of sweetener. The nose is cooked agave with cherry, dried fig and a little leather; the palate shows plum, cracked pepper and toasted spice over a medium body; the finish is dry, savoury and moderately long. Drink it neat in a copita, or use it in a margarita built with less orange liqueur so the wine notes stay in view.
