Palomo Mezcal Artesanal con Cacao 700ml

This is Palomo's artesanal mezcal made with cacao, part of a long Mexican tradition of marrying the spirit with local ingredients rather than sweetening it into a flavoured liqueur. The cacao sits alongside the mezcal instead of covering it, so the roast character of the pit-cooked agave still comes through clearly. The nose is woodsmoke, roasted agave and dark cocoa; the palate is fuller and rounder than the standard bottling, with bitter chocolate, black pepper and a dry earthy note; the finish is smoky and long, leaving cocoa dust behind. Sip it neat after dinner in a small glass, or pour it over one big cube with an orange twist.
