About this bottle
Penelope American Light Whiskey 17 Year is a rare release built from whiskey distilled in 2006 at the historic Seagram's site in Lawrenceburg, Indiana — now the Ross & Squibb Distillery — and aged seventeen years in second-fill oak. Light whiskey is a legal category distinct from bourbon: distilled higher and aged in used or once-filled barrels, which mutes the oak and lets the 99% corn base show through cleaner and lighter than a straight whiskey of the same age. Cask strength at 138.8 proof, 69.4% ABV. A genuinely uncommon style at a genuinely uncommon age. Pour it with a few drops of water to open the cask strength up.
