Pere Labat Blanc Rum 1L

Pere Labat is a rhum agricole from Distillerie Poisson on Marie-Galante, the small island off Guadeloupe that still runs on sugar cane. Agricole means the rum is distilled from fresh-pressed cane juice rather than molasses, and an unaged blanc is where that difference is loudest. The nose is grassy and green, all cut cane, olive brine and white pepper, the palate is dry and vegetal with lime peel and a mineral bite, and the finish runs hot and clean. This is the bottle for a proper ti punch: a spoon of cane syrup, a coin of lime, no ice, and stirred by whoever is drinking it.
