Planteray Original Dark is a blend of Caribbean rums built around Jamaican and Trinidadian stock, and it is the house's answer to the everyday dark rum a bar actually gets through. Jamaica brings the funk and the overripe fruit, Trinidad brings a smoother, drier column-still backbone, and together they give you more character than this end of the shelf usually offers. The nose is molasses, banana and vanilla, the palate is full and sweet with brown sugar, tropical fruit and a little smoke behind it, and the finish is medium and clean. Built for mai tais, dark and stormies and a properly made rum punch.
