Pochteca Tamarind 750 ml

Pochteca Tamarind is a Mexican tamarind liqueur, and tamarind is the flavour that makes Mexican candy taste like Mexican candy: sweet, sour and faintly savoury all at the same time. That tension is exactly what makes it useful behind a bar, since it does the work of both sugar and acid in a drink. The nose is tamarind pulp, brown sugar and a little date, the palate is sticky and tart with dried fruit, molasses and a savoury edge, and the finish is long and mouth-watering rather than cloying. Shake it with mezcal and lime, rim the glass with tajin, or drink it cold and straight.
