Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is Tennessee whiskey from Lynchburg, and the Legacy Edition dresses it in a revived early-1900s label design. What makes it Tennessee whiskey rather than bourbon is the Lincoln County Process: before barrelling, the new spirit is dripped slowly through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal, which strips harsh edges and leaves the sweet, rounded character the brand is known for. Expect banana, vanilla and toasted oak on the nose, caramel, brown sugar and toasted nut on the palate, and a medium, sweetly smoky finish. Drink it on the rocks, or make the Jack and Coke it was practically designed for.
