Resilient Straight Bourbon Whisky finished in tawny port cask 17 year 750ml

Resilient Straight Bourbon at seventeen years is a long-aged whiskey finished in a tawny port cask, and both halves of that show up in the glass. Seventeen years in new charred oak puts the barrel firmly in charge; the port finish then layers stewed fruit and sweetness over what would otherwise be a dry, tannic pour. The nose is dark cherry, raisin and old oak; the palate runs through fig, caramel, cocoa and leather, with wood tannin holding the edges; the finish is long, dry and faintly nutty. Serve it neat, no ice, and add water a drop at a time if the oak crowds in.
