Rhum Clement 2015 Grappa Finish 700 ml

Rhum Clément's 2015 Grappa Finish is a Martinique agricole rhum, distilled from fresh sugarcane juice at the Clément estate in Le François, matured in oak and then finished in casks that previously held grappa. That finish is unusual for rum, and it pushes the spirit somewhere drier and more grape-inflected than a sherry or port cask would. The nose is cane, white pepper and stone fruit; the palate carries vanilla, dried apricot, a floral lift and the grassy agricole spine underneath; the finish is long, dry and faintly herbal. Serve it neat in a tulip glass and leave the ice in the freezer where it belongs.
