About this bottle
Santa Teresa 1796 is a Venezuelan rum aged by the solera method, where younger rum is fed into progressively older stock so that every bottling carries a fraction of much older spirit. The house has farmed and distilled in the Aragua valley since the eighteenth century, and its style sits on the dry side of the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, with more oak than sugar in the glass. The nose is dried fig, cocoa and a little leather. The palate is dry and structured, with toffee, orange peel, roasted nuts and warm spice. The finish is long, oaky and clean. Drink it neat or over a single cube; it holds its own with whiskey drinkers.
