Sparkle Donkey Silver is an unaged Jalisco tequila wrapped in one of the more committed pieces of nonsense in the spirits aisle, a whole invented legend about a glittering burro. The liquid takes itself more seriously than the label does. Cooked agave, lime zest and green pepper on the nose, then sweet agave and citrus with a peppery kick across a clean palate, finishing short and bright the way an unaged tequila should. Nothing has been softened by wood, so it stays direct. This is a mixing bottle first: shake it into a margarita with fresh lime, or serve it very cold with a salted rim.
