St. George Spirits American Single Malt Whiskey 750ml

St. George Single Malt is one of the founding American single malts, distilled in Alameda, California from malted barley by a house that started out making fruit eau de vie in 1982. It is released in lots rather than as a fixed recipe, so each bottling is a marriage of the casks the distillery judges ready. At 86 proof it drinks softly: a nose of toasted malt, cocoa and dried apricot, a palate of caramel, roasted nuts and stone fruit with a wisp of smoke behind, and a medium finish that turns gently drying. Neat is the way in, with a splash of water if you want it opened up.
