Templeton Rye Bourbon Fortitude 750 ML

Fortitude is Templeton's bourbon, which makes it the outlier from a distillery in Templeton, Iowa that built its whole reputation on rye. Bourbon flips the grain balance toward corn and takes its colour and sweetness from new charred oak, so the pepper that defines the rye line steps back here in favour of caramel and vanilla. The nose is caramel corn, vanilla and toasted oak, the palate is sweet corn and brown sugar with cinnamon and just a flicker of rye pepper, and the finish is medium and warm. Pour it over one large cube, or use it in an old fashioned where the sweetness carries the bitters.
