About this bottle
Tequila Ocho Plata is made by Carlos Camarena at the family's La Alteña distillery in Arandas, Jalisco, using agave from a single named estate that's disclosed on every label and changes from harvest to harvest, much like a wine vintage. The tequila is cooked in a traditional brick oven, double-distilled, and rested briefly in stainless steel rather than oak, so the agave stays front and center. Expect bright citrus, black pepper, and cooked agave with a clean, crisp finish and none of the vegetal harshness some blancos carry. This is a bottle for agave purists who want to taste a specific harvest and terroir, sipped neat or in a simple, well-made margarita.
How to drink Tequila Ocho Plata
Because the flavor changes with each year's harvest, it's worth tasting a fresh bottle neat before mixing anything, just to catch what that particular estate and vintage taste like. Once you've done that, it makes an excellent, agave-forward margarita with nothing more than lime and agave syrup.

It's the classic choice for a Margarita or a Paloma, where its bright agave and pepper notes come through clearly.
What makes Tequila Ocho distinctive?
It pioneered single-estate, vintage-dated tequila — naming each release by the specific field and harvest year, an approach modeled after wine and unusual in the category.
