This is a single barrel of Jack Daniel's chosen by The Bourbon Enthusiast, one of the tasting groups that pick their own casks from the Lynchburg rickhouses. Jack Daniel's Single Barrel comes from the upper floors, where bigger temperature swings push the whiskey harder into the wood, and every barrel is a little different — the whole reason private picks exist. The house Lincoln County Process, dripping the new spirit through sugar maple charcoal before the barrel, is still in play. Toasted oak, banana bread and vanilla on the nose; caramel, dark cherry and toasted nuts on the palate; a long, oak-forward finish. Neat, or on one cube.
