The Distillarium Triplexium is a triple cask whiskey, which means the blend has been drawn from or finished in three different types of wood; the label stops short of naming them, so the wood story stays where the producer left it. Multi-cask whiskeys usually land layered and soft, and this one follows the pattern. The nose gives vanilla, dried fruit and a little baking spice; the palate is caramel, stewed apple, toasted nuts and warm oak; the finish is medium and dries out toward cinnamon. Drink it neat first to see where the casks pull it, then over a single large cube.
