The GlenDronach Ode to the Dark 700 ml

The GlenDronach Ode to the Dark is a Highland single malt from the Forgue distillery, which has built its name since 1826 on sherry-cask maturation rather than peat or provenance games. This release leans into the deeper end of that house style, and the glass reflects it. The nose is raisin, dark chocolate and orange peel; the palate is dried fig, treacle, walnut and warm baking spice over a firm oak backbone; the finish is long, moving from sweet fruit toward bitter cocoa and leather. It suits a cold evening and a heavy-bottomed glass. Serve it neat, adding water only if the alcohol needs settling.
