The Perfect Fifth Oran Blend No. 1 is a blended Scotch put together by an independent bottler that usually works in old, single-cask territory, which suggests the component whiskies here are better than the word blend tends to imply. The name comes from the Gaelic for song. No component distilleries are named on the label, so the glass has to speak for itself: honey, dried apple and soft malt on the nose, a palate of vanilla, orchard fruit, cereal sweetness and gentle spice, and a medium finish that stays warm and clean. Drink it neat, over a large cube, or in a well-made highball.
