The Perfect Fifth Oran Blend No. 2 is the second release in the independent bottler's blended Scotch series, named for the Gaelic word for song. Blending is old craft rather than a compromise, and a bottler that spends most of its time with long-aged single casks tends to bring better material to the table than the category average. The nose is dried fruit, toffee and light citrus; the palate is raisin, honey, toasted cereal and warm baking spice; the finish is medium-long and lightly drying. It handles ice and soda without falling apart. Serve it neat first, then over a large cube if the mood is casual.
