Throw back Fernet 750mL

Throwback Fernet is a fernet-style amaro, the darkest and most bracing corner of the Italian bitter family. Fernet is built on bitter roots, barks and mint, kept low on sugar so the bitterness arrives with nothing standing in front of it, which is why bartenders drink it at the end of a shift rather than the start of a meal. The nose is menthol, bitter root and dark spice; the palate is intensely bitter with mint and licorice riding over a faint sweetness; the finish is cold and long. Serve it chilled as a shot, with ginger beer over ice, or in a Hanky Panky.
