The Master Blend Edition is the bottling Uncle Nearest puts the most care into, assembled by master blender Victoria Eady Butler, a direct descendant of Nearest Green, the distiller whose name the brand carries. It is a Tennessee whiskey, charcoal-mellowed through sugar maple before barreling, and the blend leans on older and richer stock than the core range does. Expect a nose of dark caramel, dried cherry and maple, a palate that runs oak, toffee, cocoa and baking spice, and a long finish with soft char and lingering sweetness. This one is worth drinking neat, in a glencairn, with a few drops of water and no hurry.
