Wemyss Malts The Hive is a blended malt Scotch — malt whisky from several distilleries, no grain whisky at all — assembled around a Speyside core and named for the honeyed character the blend is built to show. Wemyss bottles it at 46% without chill filtration, so the texture stays fuller and the whisky may haze when water goes in. The nose is heather honey, orchard fruit and vanilla; the palate brings baked apple, barley sugar and a dusting of cinnamon; the finish is warm, sweet and lightly spiced rather than long. Drink it neat, or add a few drops of water to open the honey up further.
