Westland's Garryana series is a single malt whiskey from Westland Distillery in Seattle, aged in barrels made from Quercus garryana — Garry oak, a native Pacific Northwest oak species not typically used for whiskey barrels. Because Garryana oak is more porous and tannic than standard American or European oak, batches in this series lean into heavier wood extraction. Expect dried fruit, baking spice and pronounced oak tannin on the nose and palate, with a long, drying finish driven by that unusual barrel wood. It's one of Westland's flagship experimental releases and a showcase for terroir-driven American single malt.
