Westward Single Malt Pocket Rocket

Westward Pocket Rocket is a small-format bottling of the Oregon distillery's American single malt, sized for a jacket pocket, a campsite or a hotel room rather than the back bar. Westward starts its whiskey the way a brewery starts a beer — brewer's malt, ale yeast and a slow fermentation — before pot distillation and time in oak, which gives the spirit more fruit and body than most malts carry at this age. The nose is stone fruit and malt, the palate runs to toffee, dried cherry and cocoa, and the finish is warm and grain-sweet. Drink it neat straight from the flask, or over one cube.
