Wild Turkey Private Selection Single Barrel is Kentucky straight bourbon drawn from one cask, selected barrel by barrel rather than blended into a standard release. Wild Turkey enters its whiskey into the barrel at a lower proof than most Kentucky distilleries, so less water goes in at bottling and more of what the oak gave up stays in the glass. Expect caramel, vanilla and dried orange on the nose, a palate of brown sugar, baking spice, toasted oak and a little leather, and a long, warm finish with char at the edges. Drink it neat first to read the barrel, then over one big cube.
