About this bottle
A Family Reserve single barrel from Wilderness Trail, drawn from barrel 764901 at six years and two months and bottled at cask strength. The Danville, Kentucky distillery ferments sweet mash, a fresh start for every batch rather than a backset carried over from the one before, and the result is a clean, fruit-leaning bourbon that wears its proof better than the number on the label suggests. The nose opens on apple and vanilla, the palate runs to caramel, brown sugar and baking spice with real weight behind it, and the finish is dry oak and toasted grain. Take it neat with a few drops of water.
