Wildrye EichenKirsch 750ml

EichenKirsch is a small release from WildRye Distilling in Bozeman, Montana, and the name, oak and cherry in German, tells you where it is headed. Expect a spirit built around dark fruit and wood rather than one that leads with raw grain: ripe cherry and a light almond note on the nose, then a palate that runs sweet-tart through the middle with vanilla and toasted oak underneath, and a finish that dries out on cherry stone and gentle spice. It is a distinctive bottle rather than an everyday pour. Serve it neat at room temperature, or stir it into a whiskey sour for depth.
