Woody Creek Distillers Colorado High Rye 70/30 Bourbon Whiskey 750ml

Woody Creek Colorado High Rye is a bourbon from the Basalt distillery in the Roaring Fork Valley, built on the 70/30 corn and rye split named on the label, which puts far more rye in the mash than most bourbons carry. Woody Creek works with grain grown on its own Colorado farmland and distils at altitude, and that extra rye pushes the whiskey toward spice rather than sweetness. The nose is bright with rye bread, mint and orange peel; the palate brings cinnamon, dark caramel and toasted oak; the finish is dry and peppery. Neat is the honest test, but it makes a sharp old fashioned.
