Port Askaig Islay Malt 25 year 750ml

Port Askaig 25 Year Old is an Islay single malt selected and bottled by Elixir Distillers, the independent house named for the little ferry port on the island's east coast. Twenty-five years does something specific to Islay whisky: the peat stops shouting and settles into the background, leaving room for wax, fruit and salt. The nose is soft coastal smoke with beeswax and lemon oil, the palate turns waxy and orchard-fruited with brine and vanilla, and the smoke returns only on a long, drying, salt-edged finish. Pour it neat in a copita and leave it ten minutes before the first sip.
