About this bottle

Mezcal Artesanal Almas Tobaziche is made from the Tobaziche agave, a wild or semi-cultivated variety less commonly bottled than Espadin, which brings its own distinct character compared to the more familiar mainstream mezcal profile. Almas produces its mezcal using traditional artisanal methods — underground roasting, stone-mill or tahona crushing, and open-air fermentation — the standard process that gives mezcal its smoky, earthy signature. Because Tobaziche agave is harder to source and slower-growing than Espadin, bottlings built around it tend to be smaller-batch and more variable release to release, with a smokier, more mineral-driven profile than typical Espadin mezcal.

How to drink Almas Tobaziche

Sip it neat in a small clay copita, the traditional way to drink mezcal, rather than as a shot. It's distinctive enough as an unusual agave variety that it's worth tasting on its own before mixing it into anything.
