Andalusia Revenant Oak is the smoke-forward Texas single malt from Andalusia Whiskey Co. in Blanco, and this bottling is a single-barrel pick drawn from one cask rather than blended for consistency. Hill Country heat pushes maturation hard, so Texas single malt tends to arrive with more wood character in fewer years than a Scottish equivalent. The nose is campfire smoke, malted barley and dried orchard fruit. The palate is thicker than the nose suggests, with toasted grain, honey, char and dark toffee, the smoke running underneath rather than over the top, and the finish is long, dry and ashy. Drink it neat with a drop of water.
