About this bottle
Arak El Massaya is a traditional Lebanese arak from Massaya, one of Lebanon's respected wine and spirits producers in the Bekaa Valley. Arak is distilled from grapes and redistilled with aniseed, giving it a strong licorice character similar to ouzo or pastis but with its own distinct grape-based backbone. It's traditionally served with water and ice, which causes it to turn cloudy, and is a staple of Lebanese and broader Levantine dining.
How to drink Arak El Massaya
Mix roughly one part arak to two or three parts cold water, added slowly so it louches to a milky white, then serve over ice alongside mezze.
