Chartreuse Jaune (Yellow Chartreuse) is a French herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks according to a centuries-old secret recipe involving around 130 herbs, plants and flowers, distinct from the stronger, more herbaceous Green Chartreuse — Yellow is lower in proof and sweeter, with honey added to the recipe. The exact formula remains known only to a small number of monks, unchanged for generations. Expect honey, saffron and gentle floral herbs on the nose, a sweet, delicate, honeyed palate with soft herbal complexity, and a smooth, lingering finish. A gentler entry point into Chartreuse than the Green expression.
